local dentists with payment plans?
8th-Oct-2009 01:51 pm
H&AH
I have 3-4 teeth that need some fillings (2 already had them, but they were in odd locations and eventually fell out, so need to be replaced) and I have no insurance. I've also been out of work for about 9 months, so I don't have any savings. I need to find a local dentist who will work out a reasonable payment plan and I don't even know where to begin. Anybody here know of one? Any info you have on what the "payment plan" is would be awesome as well. My boyfriend is going to have to make the payments for me for a bit, so I need to make sure it's something he can actually afford to do. Thanks for the help!

Try contacting DHS to see if they can give you the name of a dentist who helps low-income families. To be honest, I should probably take my own advice because I am about to lose my insurance since I dropped down to part-time at my job, and two of my teeth are starting to get holes right at the gum line. Let me know if you have any luck with DHS.

thanks for your advice. i was under the impression that DHS only deals in medicaid for pregnant ladies and "family planning" for non-pregnant people. so, i'll check that out and if it amounts to something i'll let you know.

Be careful about the dentist if you are going to a low income dentist. Make sure it is at least clean. I was okay, he fixed me up and gave me some good advice. I am trying to remember his name. Anyhow, I'll let you know when i think of it :) On the down side, payment was up front and there was no payment plan. I would get one tooth worked on at a time if you can't afford it all in one sitting. That's what I did!
